Bike tools – the perfect way to start the cycling season

If you love to get out and about on your bike, it's important to have the right bike tools to hand. For example, it's easy to suddenly find your chain has come off or your seat is too loose when you're out on a bike ride. With the right tools, you can carry out minor repairs and maintenance on your bike yourself, ensuring you're always safe and comfortable as you ride.

If you like to do repairs to your bike yourself, you need the right bike tools for the job. The basic equipment includes:

• Tyre levers to make changing tyres and tubes easier, along with a puncture repair kit.
• Allen key set (2 to 8 mm) and screwdriver.
• Bike multitools, especially for when you're on the go and need to be prepared for an emergency.
• Open-ended spanner in different sizes
• Torx key, for example to adjust or loosen the handlebars
• Chain tool, to open and join the bicycle chain if there is no chain lock.
• Long-nosed pliers, a lock hammer and a rubber hammer

You should also think about a bicycle pump tool to ensure that your tyres are always inflated to the optimum pressure. A chain whip and a cassette remover are also useful for cleaning and lubricating your bike's chain or changing the cassette. Make sure you use high-quality bicycle tools so that you can enjoy them for a long time and perform precise work. With the right bicycle tools, you are well equipped to carry out small repairs independently and keep your bike in top condition.

How to secure your bike during repairs

It is particularly important to secure your bike during a repair. Nobody wants their bike to fall over and suffer scratches or major damage. We therefore recommend that you use a floor-mounted bike stand or a repair stand. A bike stand has the advantage that you can simply push your front wheel into the stand and it is immediately protected from falling over. The bike stand or floor stand does not need to be additionally attached to the wall.

Alternatively, you can use a repair stand. This is attached to the wall and ensures that your bike is raised to a comfortable height. So you can easily change your bike's tyre here, for example.
